When my band was allowed to record after-hours in an industrial space in west oakland, i took the opportunity to show up early to record some of the machines in action. This is a recording of an industrial embroidery machine as it sews on logos to eight sweatshirts. Unfortunately my recording of the glass etching machine in another part of the building didn't turn out as useful--it sounded pretty crazy. A machine punching tooth spaces in a band saw with a crank punch while the band coil is advancing. There is a pause where no punches are made. The machine is punching hundreds of teeth per minute. Recorded with a rode nt4 microphone and the edirol r44 recorder.

Field-recording factory machines.

This is a very lowfi recording of a xerox workcentre 7345 in a very small room being switched on from standby and initializing, including some button presses with beeps, mechanical movement sounds and motors. The bitrate is only 13 kbit/s and the resulting audio quality not very good, but the file size is really small. Maybe audio level needs normalizing, though.
